You can take the course at your own pace, but it's designed to be completed in about six months. Some familiarity with programming and experience with Single Board Computers is preferred (you can find coding classes on Coursera, too.) If you'd rather take individual courses instead of the whole specialty, you can do that instead, but you won't get the fancy specialization certificate.
Coursera offers a 7-day free trial on the Internet of Things Specialization or any of their thousands of courses. After that, you'll get unlimited access to the Coursera catalog for just $49 a month. They'll recommend courses based on your personal goals and you'll get official certificates to add to your LinkedIn profile.
Whether you're looking to transition into a new career, want to refresh a skill you're a little rusty on, or are just looking for a fun new hobby, online learning is the way to go.
